On train

There is no baggage limit (except on few trains such as Eurostar and French-Spanish Hotel-trains ), however the traveler has to carry the luggage himself, therefore we suggest to travel as light as possible.

Very few trains have luggage coach, the majority have either overhead storage racks, storage room behind the back of the seats or luggage storage areas at end of each wagon.

Note: European railroads will assume no responsibility for any luggage in case of lost or stolen. All luggage kept in any storage areas will remain under the sole responsibility of the traveler.

Excess luggage or bulky pieces must be stored in a separate baggage wagon and therefore must be checked-in before departure.

Very few trains have a separate baggage wagon. Most often checked luggage will travel on a different train than the passenger. Most probably, the luggage will not arrive at destination at the same time as the passenger. It can take few extra days to arrive.

There is normally a fee for this type of service.

We would suggest you to contact the rail station of arrival and departure for more information about this service.

At the station:

All major train stations have lockers or luggage storage.

You can easily locate them by pictograms.

Baggage trolleys are can be found at major train stations. In order to use it, a coin of the right corresponding currency will have to be inserted, which will then be retrieved upon return of the trolley.
